Effect of biochar on tungsten bioavailability and uptake grown in a soil with artificially tungsten contaminated

چکیده

Tungsten (W) is an emerging contaminant because of its potential toxicity to humans, and biochar (BC) widely used for soil heavy metal remediation. However, W-biochar-plant interactions remain unknown. The objective the study was evaluate effect rice-husk BC on W uptake by lettuce. Different levels (0%, 1%, 2% 5% w/w) were incorporated into incubated 60 days. result shows that application immobilized in soil, transformed acid extractable fraction reducible residual with unstudied mechanism. Meanwhile, increased shoot height, root length, biomass, chlorophyll lettuce compared control treatment. As control, accumulation decreased, lowest translocation factor (root shoot) observed results suggested main profit reduce mobilizing proximal water. Besides, effective immobilization reducing lettuce.

Uptake and bioavailability of persistent organic pollutants by plants grown in contaminated soil.

This paper assesses the uptake of persistent organic pollutants (POP's) into plants. In particular, uptake of alpha-endosulfan, beta-endosulfan and endosulfan sulfate from lettuce. The lettuce plants were grown on compost that had previously been contaminated at 10 and 50 microg g(-1) per POP. The soil was slurry spiked by adding the appropriate amount of POP in acetone in an approximate ratio ...

Speciation and Geochemistry of Tungsten in Soil

In order to limit the dispersive use of lead on small arms firing ranges, 5.56-mm bullets with tungsten-nylon composite material cores have been fired at a number of Army training ranges. Tungsten in bullet residues oxidizes when exposed to the atmosphere, yielding an amorphous tungsten oxide (WO3) coating. This coating rapidly dissolves to yield the tungstate anion (WO4), which can migrate in ...

Biochar impact on physiological and biochemical attributes of Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) in nickel contaminated soil

Disastrous effect of nickel on spinach was discussed by number of authors but the effect of amendments like biochar with nickel on Spinacea oleraceaL. is not still discussed by any author of the world because biochar was used as soil amendments which play a vital role in reducing mobilization and uptake of nickel by spinach plants. As nickel contaminated plants are very harmful for th...

Reduction of chromium toxicity by applying various soil amendments in artificially contaminated soil

Six soil amendments including municipal solid waste compost (MSWC), coal fly ash (CFA), rice husk biochar prepared at 300°C (B300) and 600°C (B600), zerovalent iron (Fe0), and zerovalent manganese (Mn0) were evaluated to determine their ability to reduce mobility of chromium (Cr) in a Cr-spiked soil. The Cr-spiked soil samples were separately incubated with selected amendments at 2 and 5% [weig...

The effect of liming on cadmium, lead, and zinc uptake reduction by spring wheat grown in contaminated soil

For characterization of the ability of crops to reflect changing soil properties after the addition of ameliorative materials into the soil both pot and rhizobox experiments were provided. In the pot experiment, the influence of the addition of lime and limestone into contaminated Cambisol containing 7.14 mg Cd/kg, 2174 mg Pb/kg, and 270 mg Zn/kg on element availability for spring wheat was tes...
